A courier quote is three variables — how heavy, how fast, and what proof you need at the other end. Give all three and you can compare rates honestly.
What to specify when you ask for a rate
Vendors quote what they are asked. Give them all of this and the quotes you get back will be comparable to each other — which is the whole point.
- What is being sent. Documents, a parcel, something fragile, something valuable. Fragile and valuable are different services.
- Weight and dimensions. Actual weight and box size. Most couriers charge on volumetric weight for anything bulky.
- From and to. Exact areas. Within Karachi, intercity, or international — and whether either end is hard to reach.
- Speed. Same-day, next-day, or standard. Same-day within Karachi is a different product from next-day to Lahore.
- Proof of delivery. Signature, photo, or nothing. Say if you need it — retrofitting proof is impossible.
- Volume. One-off or a regular run. Anyone sending daily should be quoted an account rate, not a counter rate.
- Insurance. Declared value, if the contents are worth insuring.
