Laptop and phone repair in Karachi: the questions that decide the price
Repair quotes hinge on one thing people forget to ask: which part, from where, with what warranty. The same screen can be three prices and three lifespans.
What to specify when you ask for a rate
Vendors quote what they are asked. Give them all of this and the quotes you get back will be comparable to each other — which is the whole point.
- Exact model. Make, model and year, and the serial or part number if you have it. "HP laptop" cannot be quoted.
- The symptom, not your diagnosis. Describe what it does — does not turn on, screen flickers, dies at 40%. Let them diagnose; you will get a more honest answer.
- What you have already tried. Previous repairs, drops, liquid, whether it was opened before. This changes the job and hiding it changes the price later.
- Original or compatible part. Original, OEM-equivalent or compatible. This is the biggest price difference in the whole trade — ask which they are quoting.
- Warranty required. How long on the part, how long on the labour, and what voids it.
- Your data. Say up front whether the drive must be preserved, and whether they may access it. Get the answer in writing.
- Turnaround. Same-day, next-day, or a week. And whether they have the part in stock or must order it.
Questions worth asking before you agree
- Is that price original, OEM or compatible?
- What warranty comes with the part, and with your work?
- Will you return the old part to me?
- Is diagnosis charged if I decide not to proceed?
- Will my data be preserved, and who has access to the device?

What a fair price depends on
Rates move with quantity, material, finish and how fast you need it — which is why a single published price would mislead you more than it helped. The reliable way to find out what your job costs is to describe it once and let vendors quote it.
