Uniforms and bulk stitching in Karachi: fabric and labour are two prices
The single most common mistake in a tailoring quote is treating it as one number. Fabric and stitching are separate, and knowing which you are being quoted is most of the negotiation.
What to specify when you ask for a rate
Vendors quote what they are asked. Give them all of this and the quotes you get back will be comparable to each other — which is the whole point.
- Quantity and size breakdown. Total pieces and how many of each size. A size run changes cutting efficiency and therefore price.
- Garment type. Shirts, trousers, kurtas, aprons, coveralls, caps. Be specific about style — collar, cuff, pocket, fit.
- Fabric. Are you supplying it or are they? If they are, name the fabric and weight, or ask for swatches. Insist on seeing the actual cloth before a bulk run.
- Branding. Embroidery or screen print, logo size, how many placements. Embroidery is priced per thousand stitches — send the logo file.
- Sizing method. Standard size chart, or individual measurements. Individual measurement for 40 staff is a much bigger job.
- Sample first. Always ask for one stitched sample before the full run, and agree who pays for it.
- Deadline. Bulk stitching is scheduled work — a tight deadline is a real cost, not a favour.
Questions worth asking before you agree
- Is that price with fabric or stitching only?
- Can I see the fabric before you cut?
- Will you make one sample first, and is it chargeable?
- What is the price per additional piece if I add to the order?
- How are mistakes and wrong sizes handled?
What people typically ask for
- 40 staff shirts with embroidered logo, sizes to be confirmed
- Coveralls for a workshop team, fabric supplied by vendor
- Bulk alterations on existing uniforms
- Aprons and caps for a café, with printed branding
What a fair price depends on
Rates move with quantity, material, finish and how fast you need it — which is why a single published price would mislead you more than it helped. The reliable way to find out what your job costs is to describe it once and let vendors quote it.
